Many years later I started reading a book, ‘Storming St. Nazaire’ by James Dorrian about Operation Chariot and the raid on St. Nazaire and I was hooked. I then read every book, magazine and internet article I could find on the subject and eventually came up with the idea of telling Jimmy Johnson’s story from his own personal point of view.
