Following her marriage ending several years ago, Sheena joins a research programme, The HindSight Project, at her local university in S W Scotland. At nearly seventy, she wants to understand what happened after a suspected affair turned out to be something more unsettling and complicated. She is required to write narratives of the events leading to the break up. Then, using hindsight, she explores with a therapist what was really going on in her husband’s secretive world of erotic fantasy. Sheena gains an understanding of the past while discovering uncomfortable truths about her relationship with her sexual self. This novel is not about extremes or the sensational; rather how the ordinary can become unordinary with devastating consequences.
